Greetings SEMBBers! Honestly, the less said about last Sunday’s game the better. There’s more than enough comments and articles online for you to chose from.UPDATE AND RECAP ON OUR CLUB FUNDRAISING
First, it appears that the Toys-For-Tots game has been moved up to November 27th, the Tampa Bay game. This means we will only be collecting change for charity until November 20th. I ask any members who will be at viewing at the Den to consider dropping their loose change (and loose bills) into the collection bottle. We’ll tally up the proceeds and present them to the Marine Reserve commander at the tailgate in the Port authority lot on the 27th.
Last week I asked for your input as to the direction we should go for our major local fundraising effort to raise funds for women’s shelters in the Metro area. I have had several responses back from members, but am extending the period to comment/vote for at least another week or two to allow all of you to chime in and voice your opinions. We have the following suggested organizations:Turning Point in Macomb County (https://turningpointmacomb.org/) North/EastFirst Step in Wayne County (https://www.firststep-mi.org/) West/SouthGrace Centers of Hope in Pontiac (https://gracecentersofhope.org/) North/EastHaven of Oakland County (https://www.haven-oakland.org/) North/EastPaula’s House in Monroe (https://paulashouse.squarespace.com/) West/SouthWe will start raising funds shortly–primarily through an online memorabilia auction that I will open up not only to Club members, but to other Browns Backers clubs as well–should they decide to pass on the info to their members. What I need from all of you is direction on how we will distribute what we raise. The questions are simple:Do we split it equally among the five charities listed above?Do we choose a couple locations–one East/North and one West/South and split the proceeds between the two. You will need to vote for two.
So, reply back to this email with your decision and thoughts. If you opt for the second option, please also include your two choices–one North/East, one West/South.
BROWNS IN RATBIRDTOWN The Browns are in Baltimore to take on the hated Ratbirds. We’ll be down a couple of key players but it will be interesting to see how the team bounces back from last week’s ignoble defeat. Kickoff is at 1 pm. Since it’s an away game, I’ll be joining Dave T. at the Den. I hope to see many folks there to watch the game and cheer on the Browns!
That’s it for this week except, of course…GO BROWNS!!!
