Week 15: Banged up by the Bungles; Ratbirds In Town; Christmas Eve

Greetings SEMBBers!
Well, we knew our dominance of Joe Burrow couldn’t last…I just wish it had lasted one more game. But, more on that later.

I do want to thank the 18 folks who came out to the Northville Sports Den to watch the game with me last Sunday!

Now on to this week’s email blast.
BANGED UP BY THE BUNGLES
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am getting sick of good teams picking apart Joe Woods’ zone defense. And, as much as I am loathe to admit it, Cincy is a good team. they proved that point last Sunday in a convincing win against us. And it was obvious they were well prepared and planned well offensively. Of course, the rather simplistic zone schemes Woods has doesn’t really offer that great a challenge for any really good team and I do feel very sorry for all the talented players on the Browns Defense that have to put up with such an unimaginative and mediocre D Coordinator.

Not sure if it is Woods’ poor coaching or bad luck, but we lost Jeremiah Owuso-Koramoah for the season, this after losing Sione Takitaki the week before and making it the fourth linebacker we’ve lost to IR this season.

I guess we’ll have to suffer through the last four games and hope for off-season changes on the defensive coaching staff.

Of course, my patience is wearing thin with Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator Kevin Stefanski…but that’s a rant for another day. Speaking of another day, it may come sooner than we think.

THE RATBIRDS IN TOWN TOMORROW
Yes, those jolly fellows in black, gold and purple who have a carrion eater as a mascot will be coming onto Cleveland to take on our beloved, and battered Browns. Surprisingly, the oddsmakers have Cleveland favored, albeit only by three points. One bright spot is that Lamar Jackson is out and Tyler Huntley will be under center for Baltimore, which may give our Defense and opportunity–Joe Woods’ coaching notwithstanding.

As I mentioned last week, this is a SATURDAY afternoon game with the kickoff at 4:30 pm. The game will only be broadcast on NFL Network Plus so your best bet is to come to the Northville Sports Den and watch it with your fellow fans. We will not have our usual room available as it was reserved by someone else well before the NFL finally decided on a date/time for this game. We will, however, have the section in the back of the main area reserved for us and Susan Fisher will be our guest host to help get everyone situated. Best to get there early to get a good seat!

CHRISTMAS EVE AND THE SAINTS
Also, as I mentioned last week, since the Saints game is being played on Christmas Eve we will not have an officially hosted viewing of the game that day. It is also up in the air whether the Den will be open–as soon as I know you will know. If they are open, any member who wants to is more than welcomed to drop in to watch the game there if you so chose.

On another note, if any member will be in the Cleveland area and would like to get two tickets to the game, respond back to this email as I will not be able to attend (Sec. 125, Row 33, Seats 11/12).

That’s it for this week except, of course, always and forever…

 GO BROWNS!!!
