Greetings SEMBBers!Well, 11 weeks in the season are done and the Browns sit at 2-8. Nothing like we expected at the start of the season. Rumors are flying fast and furious about both Stefanski and Berry, and depneding on what one reads either one–or possibly both–could be gone at the end of the season. Will that solve the problem? Who knows, but I doubt it since I think there’s a bigger (higher level) reason for the team’s disfunction, but I won’t mention it outright for now.I’m not saying the team is as incredibly bad as in past years–there are bright spots every game–but mental errors are costing us. We’ve got five more weeks of the regular season to go, the we can pop some corn and watch the off-season drama unfold. Heck, its’ not like we haven’t been through this before. (I just wish we didn’t have to go through this time and again!) ROLLED IN NOLA The Browns went down to New Orleans to take on the Saints in what was, on paper al least, an even match. And , through three quarters it was a competitive and entertaining game. The wheels came off in the 4th and we ended up getting blown out. Winston and the offense looked good through three quarters, but stalled in the fourth. The big news, however, was failures on special teams and defense. DHop, is having the yips–missing from both long and short field goals. Punt return coverages were ok, but one breakdown in the 4th quarter led to a huge return and easy subsequent score. And mis-communicaiton and dropped coverage on the defense sealed our fate and contributed to blowout. And, I’m not going to go into any detail on Taysom Hill’s performance–damn him! THE SQUEELERS ARE IN TOWN FOR TNF Now we’re at the start of Week 12 and the Browns are hosting 8-2 Pittsburgh on Thursday Night Football. Surprisingly, the line only gives the Squeelers a 4 point advantage. And who knows, as the old saying goes — “Any given Sunday (or, in this case, Thursday).”Susan has other commitments and I’m out for the rest of the Season, so there will not be a host at the Den for tomorrow’s 8:15 pm kickoff. However, don’t let that dissuade you. The Den staff will be there to seat you together while you watch the game. One final note, with me out and Susan having other commitments we are in need of some help to host the last few viewings. If you’re interested reach out to me at your earliest convenience. That’s it for this week except, of course, always and forever…GO BROWNS!!! |
