Greetings SEMBBers! First, I’d like to take this opportunity for a personal announcement to all the long-term club members who have got to know my daughter, Jessica, in years past. This past Wednesday, November 9th at 3:09 PM Jessica gave birth to a daughter–Jaycee Juliana Skrzypiec. Jaycee came into the world at 6 Lbs., 14 oz. and measured 18.5 inches. Both mother and daughter are doing well and were discharged this afternoon. I am thankful that both came through the pregnancy and delivery hale and hearty and I look forward to spoiling my granddaughter in the years to come!
Now onto the real business!
AN MNF WIN AND BUH-BYE BYE It was Monday Night Football on Halloween night and the football gods smiled upon the Browns…who proceeded to hand out a nightmare game to the Bungles!Honestly, it felt good watching the team hand out a butt-whooping instead of receiving one. For the first time this season, the team was pretty much hitting on all cylinders (a couple errant kicks notwithstanding), and the Defense finally performed at a level we had all expected from the start of the season.
The team had a chance to rest up with the bye and have made some strides in healing as well–although we will likely be without Njoku and Owusu-Koramoah. Now comes the true test of the Brownies’ talent, skill and pluck–a series of games against very tough opponents. The post-season fate of this team will likely be decided in November. Every game will be a must win…but as the saying goes, “Any given Sunday…”
ON TO MIAMI OK, tomorrow the 3-5 Browns take on the 6-3 Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. But, the ‘Fins are only a 3.5 point favorite. Don’t get me wrong, they are a tough and talented team and will be a definite challenge to us. As most of you probably know, the game will feature Chubb Vs. Chubb since Miami recently acquired linebacker Bradley Chubb (Nick’s cousin) from Denver. It’s going to be an interesting game, to say the least.
Kickoff is at 1 pm. and we will have a viewing at the Northville Sports Den.Unfortunately, I will not be there since my wife and I will be with Jessica and baby Jaycee helping them get settle in at home after being released form the hospital this afternoon. In any event, the staff at the Den will be ready to serve you in the party room for the viewing.
FUNDRAISING EFFORTS FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR We still have tomorrow and next Sunday to help fill the bottle with your change for Toys-For-Tots. I will present the proceeds to the Marine Reserve Unit on the 27th at the Elf Pack tailgate in the Port Authority lot outside of the Stadium.
Now, for our big fundraising effort–my thanks to the members who responded back to me with their votes and the two who came up with the highest votes are:First Step in Wayne County (https://www.firststep-mi.org/) West/SouthHaven of Oakland County (https://www.haven-oakland.org/) North/East. I’m putting together the auction site and plan on launching it next weekend–it will be open for approximately 30 days. A full list of items and starting bids will be made available next week.
WEBSITE REDESIGN I have to give a HUGE shout out to club member (and new club webmaster) Jack Scheible for completely redesigning and updating what was our club’s woefully out-of-date website. Jack did an AMAZING job and I cannot express enough my gratitude for his efforts. I encourage all members to check it out and to feel free to comment and offer any other suggestions you may have. If you don’t know the URL, its maybethisyear.com.
Jack, thank you so much for what you were able to do!
That’s it for this week except, of course, always and forever…GO BROWNS!!! |
