Greetings SEMBBers! I’ll try to keep this email blast short since it really hurts recalling last Sunday. The one thing I will say straight out is that Watson needs to be benched! (My opinion only.)A FEW THOUGHTS ON LAST SUNDAY’S DEBACLE The Browns are now 1-2 after losing 21-15, AT HOME, to the lowly NY Giants. A game where we were 6.5 point favorites. Here’s just a few of my thoughts:The game started out great with the fumble recovery at the 24 of the Giants. The Offense took one play to put it in the end zone for a TD catch by Amari Cooper. It was good to see Cooper finally make his presence known on the field–getting 86 yards and two TDs.Unfortunately, we had virtually no offense between the first scoring drive in the 1st quarter to our second scoring drive in the 4th. It’s time for the team to cut it’s losses and bench Watson before the league suspends him again. (Too bad we didn’t hold on to Flacco, but Jameis Winston couldn’t possibly be worse than Deshaun is right now.)The Defense, touted as our strength coming into the season, underwhelmed again–making rookie QB Daniel jones look like a seasoned pro in the first half. But I will give them props on settling down in the second half and keeping NY scoreless.Unfortunately, we had three…THREE opportunities in the 4th quarter to take back the lead and potentially win the game. We couldn’t convert on any of them.OK, enough venting.
ON TO VEGAS (WITHOUT JONNY) AND THE RAIDERS Let’s put last Sunday behind us. The Browns travel to Las Vegas to take on the 1-2 Raiders. the only good thing that can be said is that both teams are struggling and both teams are banged up with several starters on both sides scratched from the game.
It’ss a 4:25 pm kickoff. Yep, another afternoon game. The local CBS affiliate WILL NOT be broadcasting the game so why not come to the Den and join us?
I’ll be with Susan and Dave at the Den. Let’s see if the Browns can turn things around–at this point anything can happen.
A LOOK AHEAD For the long-standing members, I want to let you know that my daughter Jessica and my 23-month old granddaughter Jaycee will be joining me on the 6th for the game viewing.
In fact, I’d like to have this as the SEMBB “Family Day” and invite any and all members to come with their children. I’ll gather up some door prizes for the kids and we’ll have a drawing sometime in the first half. Parents–let me know if you plan on making it to the Den on the 6th and the age(s) of the kids you’ll be bringing. I’ll try to make sure every kid gets a prize.
Just to let you know, the game on the 13th will likely be the last game I’ll be able to attend this year since I will be going to have knee replacement surgery November 8th and will not be able to make it out for the rest of the year. I’ll still try to send out weekly blasts, though!
That’s it for this week except, of course, always and forever…
