Greetings Club Members! Well, the new Season is about to begin; our “Watson” mortgage is over (although the rest of the contract is still in force) and the final roster is set (as set as it gets with injuries, etc.).
Apologies for the delay in getting this blast out, but needed to confirm we were a go with our viewing location. I am happy to report that we will be back at the Northville Sports Den for this season.
Now on to the opening day kickoff!THE COWBOYS COME TO TOWN Opening day is this Sunday, and it starts with the Browns hosting “America’s Team” (yeah, right!) at the newliy renamed Huntington Bank Field (so. what was wrong with Cleveland Browns Stadium?). The Cowboys will be fielding Dak Prescott and their improved offense against our high-powered defense. Watson will be under center for the Browns with an improved receiving corps (but no Nick Chubb). It is definately a huge opening day game.
Kickoff is 4:25 PM. Yes, it’s an afternoon home game. But is IS the season opener. Some of us (your’s truly included) will be at the Stadium for the game. But fear not! Susan Wehinger will be back as your host for the game viewing at the Den. So get in early to get your seats and cheer on the Brownies with your fellow Club members and Fans!
A FAREWELL AND BEST WISHES TO JIM DONOVAN It’s official, after 25 years Jim Donovan is stepping down from his broadcast role as “The Voice of the Browns.” He’s spent the last 10 years battling leukemia and has announced his retirement to focus on his battle with the disease. Here’s wishing him the best–strength, courage and luck–in his fight. Thank you, Jim!
Well, that’s it for this week except, of course, always and forever…
